Pruning

If you have just planted a new tree or have established trees on your property, it’s always wise to establish a pruning schedule. Depending on the species and age of the tree in question, your pruning schedule may be demanding or fairly minimal and infrequent. Let’s have a discussion about your goals and formulate the right plan.

Consider:

Size and expected size for species
Proximity to valuables at risk
Poor structure and competing leaders
Dead, damaged, or broken limbs
Insects or disease
Clearance
Fruit Production

Tree Removal and Hazard Limb Mitigation

Dead or dying trees are extremely dangerous. Without the proper tools, equipment, and knowledge to remove them safely it’s not worth the risk to take on the task alone. Seek professional help to get the job done correctly.

Consider:

How long has the tree been dead/declining? It’s safest to remove or treat problems when you first notice issues
Lean: If storms or other natural forces push the tree over, what is at risk? It’s a larger area than you may think
Obvious or not so obvious rot: fungus or open wounds can be a clear indicator but sometimes it’s not very apparent. Let us perform a risk assessment
Broken or hanging limbs can fall at any time. Don’t become a statistic from a falling limb

Defensible Space and Property Thinning

Just like your vehicle or home, your property needs maintenance too! Putting it off for even just a few years in our Sothern Oregon climate can put us a greater risk for fire damage. Let us manage your land and mitigate the chances for high intensity wildfire to move through your property.

Consider:

Ladder fuels: heavy understories can easily move fire from the ground to the crown of your more mature trees making suppression efforts nearly impossible to manage
Thinning: our southern Oregon properties can easily get overgrown, and wildfire intensities are an important factor in relation to it
What species of plants are near your home? Some species of trees and brush are naturally somewhat fire resistant, and others are more fire prone. We can evaluate whether or not you have the right spacing and the right plants near your important at-risk valuables

Tree & Shrub Trimming

We can help you tame your hedges and help control the size and shape of your trees. Everyone loves a well-manicured look to their yard.

Consider:

Not all tree species grow the same or react identically to another so having a well-informed plan of action can save you stress in the long run.
Topping trees is never advised. By doing so, you will have a tree that requires extensive maintenance, branches with poor to hazardous attachments to the main trunk, and an overall poor appearance.
Over pruning: It can be easy to remove too much material to “tame” a tree you didn’t quite think would get so large. This stress could make the problem worse.
